HON. KWAKU AGYENIM-BOATENG: A LEGACY OF SERVICE

16 Years of Representation. A Record Built on Service.
For 16 years, the name Hon. Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng became synonymous with representation, development and public service in Berekum West.
From his election to Parliament in 2008 through four consecutive terms, Hon. Agyenim-Boateng carried the aspirations of his constituents to Ghana’s Parliament, while working to bring national attention to the development needs of his people.
His journey is not simply a story of political office. It is a story of service, experience, perseverance and a commitment to community development.
FROM DEVELOPMENT PLANNING TO NATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Before entering Parliament, Hon. Agyenim-Boateng built a professional foundation in development planning, public policy and law.
His academic and professional background equipped him with an understanding of how policies, institutions and development programmes can translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives.
That experience became an important part of his approach to political leadership.
As a Member of Parliament, he brought this combination of professional knowledge and grassroots representation to the national stage.
FOUR TERMS OF REPRESENTATION
Winning an election is one achievement. Earning the confidence of constituents repeatedly is another.
Hon. Agyenim-Boateng represented Berekum West in Parliament for four consecutive terms, giving him 16 years of parliamentary experience.
During that period, he participated in parliamentary committees dealing with employment, social welfare, state enterprises and poverty reduction. He also served as Chairman of the Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture during the Eighth Parliament.
These responsibilities placed him within important national conversations concerning Ghana’s development, young people, employment and social welfare.
FROM THE CONSTITUENCY TO GOVERNMENT
His service extended beyond the parliamentary chamber.
Hon. Agyenim-Boateng also served as a Deputy Minister for Railways Development, taking part in the national conversation around Ghana’s railway infrastructure and transportation development.
For his supporters, this progression—from development planning to Parliament and then government—represents the value of experience in public leadership.
It reflects a career built around understanding development from different levels: the community, the constituency and the nation.
DEVELOPMENT THAT TOUCHES PEOPLE
For many constituents, public service is ultimately judged by what happens in their communities.
One area where Hon. Agyenim-Boateng’s constituency work has been visible is healthcare.
In 2020, he commissioned a maternity ward at the Nkyekyemamu Health Center and supported the facility with medical equipment.
He also provided hospital beds, a weighing machine, office chairs and a television to the Amankwokwa Community-based Health Planning and Services facility.
These interventions may appear modest when compared with national infrastructure projects, but their importance is found in the communities they serve.
A maternity ward is not simply a building. It can mean safer conditions for mothers.
A hospital bed is not simply equipment. It can mean improved capacity for healthcare workers.
And support for a rural health facility can mean bringing essential services closer to people who might otherwise have to travel considerable distances for care.
This is the human side of constituency representation.
A POLITICAL CAREER BUILT ON EXPERIENCE
Hon. Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng’s career has also been defined by longevity.
In January 2024, he secured the NPP parliamentary nomination for Berekum West, winning the primary with 246 votes.
Although the 2024 general election brought a new representative to the constituency, the election did not erase the contribution of 16 years of parliamentary service.
Instead, it marked the end of one chapter in a longer public-service journey.
Sixteen years in Parliament means thousands of constituent engagements, parliamentary debates, committee responsibilities, development concerns and interactions with institutions.
It means serving through different political moments and adapting to changing expectations.
That experience is itself part of his legacy.
A LEGACY BEYOND ELECTION RESULTS
Politics is often reduced to winners and losers.
But public service deserves a broader measure.
A political career should also be considered by the institutions one contributed to, the people one represented, the communities one supported and the experience one gained along the way.
By that measure, Hon. Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng’s record offers a story worth remembering.
His journey from development planner to lawyer, from Parliament to government, and from constituency representative to a senior political figure reflects decades of engagement with Ghana’s public-development process.
THE EXPERIENCE STILL MATTERS
The future of Berekum West—and Ghana as a whole—requires leaders who understand both the aspirations of ordinary people and the complexities of governance.
Hon. Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng brings years of experience in public administration, development planning, law, parliamentary work and government.
His story is therefore not simply about the office he once occupied.
It is about experience accumulated over decades, relationships built through public service and a record of engagement with the development needs of communities.
As Ghana continues to search for effective leadership, experienced public servants remain an important part of the national conversation.

16 Years of Representation.

A Record of Community Engagement.
A Legacy of Experience.
His political journey may have entered a new chapter, but the impact of years spent serving the people of Berekum West remains part of the constituency’s history.
Leadership is not only about the position you hold.
It is about the people you serve and the difference your service leaves behind.
And for Hon. Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng, that story is one of service, experience and legacy.
